Will I be allowed to trade in Commodity Options on expiry day?

Some select Bullion and Energy contracts/strikes of Gold, Gold Mini, Silver, Silver Mini, Crude oil, Crude oil Mini, Natural gas and Natural gas Mini option contracts are open for fresh positions tentatively till 8 - 9 pm on expiry day, after which the contracts are put in square off only mode. Kotak Securities risk team may liquidate Options Long open positions post 9:00 pm irrespective of margin availability to avoid the risk of options devolvement in to futures leading to losses or margin shortfall penalty etc. However, all other Option contracts like Base metals etc. are not open for trading on expiry day due to lack of liquidity and market depth which lead to losses / penalty etc. Participants can refer to the order logs for rejection reason or can call Customer care for more clarity if needed. RMS at its discretion may block certain contracts that are low on liquidity or have huge bid ask spreads for majority of clients safety. the time and liquidation conditions are subject to change.

No fresh positions are allowed by Kotak’s risk team on Commodity Options expiry day. Kotak’s risk team may also square off (liquidate) open positions depending on client’s margin availability as per devolvement process during the day at any given time at its discretion.
