Our Fraud Awareness Initiative aims to inform you about recent fraud cases, the methods fraudsters use, and our actions to combat these frauds.
Transparency and awareness are critical to prevent fraud. We have listed all the fraud cases caught and reported to date. Fraudsters keep coming up with newer ways; hence, what we list here is non-exhaustive
By staying informed and vigilant, you play a crucial role in this fight against fraud.
We caution all investors to be aware of fraudulent groups on social media platforms like WhatsApp, Telegram, Facebook, Instagram, etc. and advise them not to conduct any financial transactions or invest their money on these platforms without verifying the company/platform.
Kotak Securities never approaches customers/public through social media/ WhatsApp for any formal business transaction. Neither has authorised any person or entity to collect funds through any WhatsApp groups, social media channels or any such unauthorised channels.
Fraudsters also offer trading platforms and applications, which resemble or impersonate those of registered trading members, luring individuals to create accounts with the promise of guaranteed or high returns. Such applications are shared through links via WhatsApp, in DMs or on group chats.
Many of these fraudulent entities/impersonators offer assured or guaranteed returns on investments in the securities markets. They propose handling investors' trading and demat accounts and or opening their accounts under an Institutional framework through fake apps named as KTT, KTAK, Kotak&NEO, KTKSECS, etc. They may request login credentials (including passwords) to facilitate securities trading with false promises of assured profits, all through illegal trading services or may mislead investors into transferring funds to private accounts, sole proprietorship firms or to an individual.
Some fraudsters are using Facebook groups to dupe investors by posting morphed pictures of Kotak Securities’ MD to announce mergers with unknown companies.
All such unregistered persons/entities/impersonators are not permitted to undertake any business/activity that is not allowed under the Byelaws, Rules & Regulations and circulars of SEBI/Exchanges, including operating any schemes of unauthorised collective investments/portfolio management, promising indicative/guaranteed/fixed returns/payments etc.
We urge all investors to follow our official channels only for genuine, comprehensive and trustworthy research reports, recommendations and market insights for all investment-related activities.
